1. Introduction
Welcome to The Institute of Occupational Wellness Practice. This policy sets out the terms, conditions, expectations, and responsibilities for learners training with us.
Our training programmes are designed to support learners in developing Occupational Wellness Practice (OWP) knowledge, practical skills, ethical awareness, personal insight, and professional readiness.
By enrolling on the course, learners agree to follow the requirements outlined in this policy and to engage with training in a manner consistent with ethical professional values.
2. Professional Standards and Ethical Practice
Our training is informed by recognised wellbeing principles, including the ethical values promoted by therapeutic professional bodies such as the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
Learners are expected to develop awareness of:

confidentiality and appropriate information handling;

professional boundaries;

self-awareness and reflective practice;

responsibility and accountability;

safe and ethical practice.
Completion of training does not automatically provide professional membership, accreditation, or the right to practise. Learners are responsible for understanding the requirements of any professional body they intend to join.
3. Entry Requirements and Learner Suitability
OWP training involves personal reflection, emotional exploration, skills practice, and engagement with sensitive material.
Learners should consider whether they are ready to participate in:

exploration of personal beliefs, values, and experiences.
We reserve the right to discuss suitability with learners where concerns arise regarding readiness, wellbeing, professional conduct, or ability to meet course requirements.
4. Enrolment and Fees
A learner’s place is confirmed once:

the application process has been completed;
-
Interview with the course director has been completed.

payment arrangements have been agreed.
Course fees must be paid according to the agreed payment schedule.
Failure to maintain payments may result in:

suspension from training;
-
restriction of access to learning materials;
-
withholding of assessment outcomes or certification;
-
termination of enrolment.
Course fees are refundable in full, without quibble, on request for all courses within fourteen days of purchase. Courses are non-refundable after fourteen days from the date of purchase.
5. Attendance and Engagement Requirements
Learners are expected to attend all scheduled training sessions and actively engage with the learning process.
Attendance requirements exist because counselling competence develops through:

reflective discussion;

experiential learning.
Learners must notify the training provider of unavoidable absences as soon as possible.
Absence will result in additional learning requirements or inability to complete the course.
6. Learning Environment and Respectful Practice.
Learners are expected to act in accordance with professional values including respect, integrity, confidentiality, accountability, and ethical awareness.
Where applicable, learners should familiarise themselves with relevant ethical guidance, including the requirements of professional membership bodies such as the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.
We reserve the right to suspend or remove a learner where conduct raises serious concerns about professional suitability or safety.

Learners are expected to:

contribute constructively;

maintain appropriate boundaries.
Bullying, harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or behaviour that compromises the safety of others will not be accepted.
7. Personal Development and Self-Awareness
Personal development is an essential element of OWP training.
Learners are encouraged to develop:

understanding of personal responses and triggers;

emotional resilience;

capacity for reflection.

Ability to practice a positive strength-based approach.
Occupational Wellness Practitioners are expected to have monthly supervision of practice sessions.
8. Skills Practice and Experiential Learning
OWP skills practice is an essential component of training.
During skills exercises, learners agree to:

respect boundaries;
-
maintain confidentiality;
-
avoid giving advice or acting without consulting the tutor.

provide constructive feedback;
Learners must not pressure others to disclose personal information.
9. Supervision Requirements
Supervision is a fundamental part of safe OWP practice.
Learners undertaking client work must:

attend regular supervision;
-
bring relevant ethical and practice issues to supervision;

be open to feedback;
10. Confidentiality and Data Protection
Learners must maintain confidentiality regarding:

clients;
-
practice sessions;
-
fellow learners;
-
personal disclosures made during training.
Confidential information must not be shared outside appropriate professional contexts.
Learners must comply with UK data protection legislation, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
11. Safeguarding Responsibilities
We are committed to safeguarding learners, clients, and the wider community.
Learners must raise concerns where they believe:

a client may be at risk;

a learner may be unsafe;

professional boundaries have been breached;

safeguarding concerns exist.
Information may be shared where necessary to protect individuals or meet legal obligations.
12. Fitness to Practise
Occupational Wellness Practice requires appropriate levels of responsibility, emotional awareness, ethical judgement, and professional behaviour.
Concerns regarding fitness to practise may include:

breaches of confidentiality;

unsafe client practice;
-
inappropriate boundaries;
-
dishonesty;
-
discriminatory behaviour;
-
inability to engage safely with training requirements.
Where concerns arise, we may:

suspend or remove a learner from the course.
13. Assessment and Progression
Learners must complete all required elements of the programme, including:

Assessment decisions are made according to the course criteria and professional training standards.
